A few months back I called my local Conference to express my outrage over this. They did not think this is a big deal. I was not surprised, because competitive sports is rampant in our schools and we have pastors who belive in victory over sin.

I love God! The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I have devoted my life completely to being a disciple laboring for souls. I spend my days seeking the lost and testifying of the living God, revealed in the scriptures as my Creator, Savior and soon coming Redeemer. I believe fully, without reservation in the Spirit of Prophecy manifested in Ellen G. White and have made it a purpose of my life to distribute her writings. My decision to become a follower of Christ and a member of the remnant church, the only church fulfilling the verses in Revelation 14:6-12 has cost me the life I knew for 25 years and I have been upheld by God and the promises in His word for the five years since I learned of these truths and became a Sabbath keeping Christian. I joined this body in baptism because I believe the Seventh Day Adventist church has a special message for the world and I do not want to see nor believe there is any reason for the church or the message
to be compromised in order to achieve its sacred purpose. It is my heartfelt, thoughtful and most of all prayerful opinion that this production in question, The Record Keeper, is harmful to the mission we have been entrusted with. I respectfully plead that this will not go forward as a representation of The Three Angels message to the world, for the reasons stated so succinctly in this petition. I pray that this will not only be prevented from being released to the public, but also that Satan will not gain a stronghold in the church over this issue. For the Love of God and mankind, in all sincerity and humility is my signature affixed to this petition!

If God can pull me from Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang, violent games, violent movies, ungodly TV, and give me the desire for the simplicity of the Word, then He can do it for other people too. I didn't need plays and movies for God to reach me and I was just as worldly as they come.

In these last days we need to cling to the Bible and the writings of Ellen White. E.W. may have written her books, etc. many years ago but it is even more pertinent now. Some of our churches have fallen into Satan's trap of letting theatrics and music of the world enter our churches. How very sad that our youth are being influenced and led to believe that if it is in the church---it is okay. Thank The Lord that someone is speaking out against this "Production" and willing to go to the top.

Would you mind praying fervently about this and also studying the council that Ellen white gives on the topic? I find it very confusing why one would use a book written by Ellen White to make a sci-fi movie but totally ignore everything else she says about theatrics and especially in our work as Adventists. Young people long for something real and genuine. Don't you think they are going to smell the hypocrisy of the whole thing?? They are really good at picking up on this sort of things...and leaving the church in disgust. We have always taught that we must study the whole Bible in context, not picking and choosing what we want in order to support a certain doctrine. That is something that makes us different than many churches. Now we can all of a sudden turn around and pick and choose what we want from Ellen white, out of context, to support pretty much anything. Don't we need to study the entire topic carefully before launching a huge and costly project like this?? God doesn't like us to be lukewarm, trying to keep the religious veneer on the one hand (using Ellen White), and on the other hand using worldly methods. We are either His or the worlds. If some don't believe the councils from Ellen White are inspired, then stop using her to support what you are doing.

I'm disappointed with the direction in which this project is being taken. I love media, and believe it can be used effectively for evangelism when used properly. However, this film seems to be a fictional, sci-fi film that merely takes place within the framework of the GC, rather than a film that will lead people to Christ. I hope the Conference will reconsider the impact of this project, and use God's money in more effective and appropriate ways.

God's people are not to use violence, nor take pleasure in viewing violence. It does something to the soul, to the character. Why, then, would we offer film violence to those we are trying to draw out of the world? Do we not trust the power of the Holy Spirit to reach hearts, in answer to fervent intercession? How little we trust; how little we pray. Please, is it not wisdom and obedience to withdraw all funding from future episodes, and exhort our people to repentance and prayer?

Movies only limit the truth to the directors vision. Inspired books, such as the Great Controversy, leave room for the Holy Spirit to work in the heart and mind. Movies limit the truth and when too much license is taken it distorts the truth. Please discontinue The Record Keeper and put the funds into distributing books. The Spirit of Prophecy counsel's are there for us to avoid such mistakes as this.

Let us get the FULL EDITION of The Great Controversy into homes, not the truncated mess the GC is now distributing, and let us STOP all worldly dramatizations of TRUTH. The Lord is not served by this, it is against inspiration, and people who see TRK are NOT going to be converted to a true Christian lifestyle where they GIVE UP such things! And no true conversion means loss of the person in the judgment. The church leadership needs to be RESPONSIBLE, rather than "dumb dogs who will not bark" (Isaiah 56:10, etc) as they have been for decades now. For shame! They are getting NONE OF US ready for the coming time of trouble, or Heaven, this way. The blood of lost Adventists (and worldlings they could have reached, if evangelized FULLY and properly) will be on their heads! God help us all!

Not being raised SDA I am having a hard time believing that the whole Record Keeper project isn't just a bad dream of a Sci-Fi movie.

If we are to have success in our evangelistic efforts there is only one way that we will ever be effective at winning the lost to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Christ's method alone will guarantee success.

Even without the internet and social media our Lord knew that revealing His truth through the created works of nature would bring them close to the creator Himself.

Sin began by Lucifer not wanting to follow Gods order, he thought he knew a better way. Eve thought she was better off eating the fruit. Israel wanted to worship Jehovah as the egyptians worshiped Osiris, so they built the golden calf. It never goes well for those who challenge Gods order. We are not to use the worlds methods to present the gospel.

Converting to Adventism at the age of 26, I have a different thought process than some, though arriving at the same conclusion. I want to share my testimony briefly to lay a foundation. I grew up not knowing anything about God. Alcoholic father, mentally unstable mother. I spent much time using drugs and drinking. By 23 I was homeless drug addict alcoholic, facing 3 yrs in prison for drug trafficking. That is when I decided to call out to God, if He was real. I eventually began reading the Bible and getting absorbed in the message. I joined a church and found little hope. They were simply trying to make me comfortable by using the worldly things I was interested in, to try to reach me. All it really did for me was conflict what I saw in the Bible as standard and bring about struggle in my mind as to whether I should follow the Word, or do what the church was doing. I came into the Adventist church through someone preaching the straight truth. I finally had found freedom from that struggle. They uplifted the Word as the standard. It did not take fanciful special effects or worldly tactics, but just as Jesus as He was upon this earth, all it took was a thus saith The Lord. I am not against media for reaching people, as a Bible worker/evangelist in the NPUC, I use media and give away DVDs to people I meet, but to take the leaps that lean more toward entertainment than truth, is one that I don't think we should be doing.

It saddens me to know that after a personal friend of mine was approached with the proposition of producing this film, and he, a non SDA, who believes the inspiration of Ellen White, saw that it went in direct disagreement to her guidance and turned it down, the GC did not take another look at the idea they had, and prayerfully consider the possibility that it might be the wrong tactic to use.

I have spent only 2 short years doing ministry for the Seventh-Day Adventist church, bug in that time I have personally witnessed over 30 baptisms in direct result of Bible study. Nothing fancy, above a PowerPoint. Going out into the highways and biways and proclaiming the message of a risen savior, coupled with the 3 angels messages is the God appointed method of reaching all. Instead of finding fanciful ways to reach the people, we need to get out and meet/mingle with the people. The hearts will never be reached without a personal connection. That is a proven fact that has been seen throughout our church.

May we prayerfully consider how we use the funds I trusted to us to better serve Him. Foreign missions is languishing for want of funds, while people perish, never hearing the name of Jesus. May we break down the walls of fear we have in witnessing for Christ here, and send the money to the foreign field that the harvest may be full when He returns.

A servant in Christ,

Do not encourage the men who are to engage in this work to think that they must proclaim the solemn, sacred message in a theatrical style. Not one jot or tittle of anything theatrical is to be brought into our work. God's cause is to have a sacred, heavenly mold. Let everything connected with the giving of the message for this time bear the divine impress. Let nothing of a theatrical nature be permitted, for this would spoil the sacredness of the work. {Ev 137.2}.......Notice how this Holy Spirit quote by Ellen G. White States [Men will change the Religion] of the faith once delivered to the saints and not change the name [Seventh-Day Adventist] ....... The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. [Our religion would be changed]. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. {1SM 204.2}
Who has authority to begin such a movement? We have our Bibles. We have our experience, attested to by the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit. We have a truth that admits of no compromise. Shall we not repudiate everything that is not in harmony with this truth? {1SM 205.1}
I hesitated and delayed about the sending out of that which the Spirit of the Lord impelled me to write. I did not want to be compelled to present the misleading influence of these sophistries. But in the providence of God, the errors that have been coming in must be met. {1SM 205.2}
This is their main object in writing out their falsehoods and in misrepresenting the truth and the characters of those who love and advocate the truth. They will die out more speedily to be left unnoticed, to have their errors and falsehoods treated with silent contempt. They do not want to be let alone. Opposition is the element that they love. If it were not for this, they would have but little influence. – {3T 37.1}

I am also receiving printed matter, tracts and leaflets, from one and another, which present a large array of Scriptures, put together in a way that would seem to prove certain theories; but they only prove the theories in the estimation of their authors; for truth set in a framework of error, diverts the mind from the real subject which should take the attention, and aids error in calling the minds of men away from the present truth which is essential for this time. These persons bring certain Scriptures together, and interpret passages of the Bible, so as to give coloring to their views; but they are wresting the Scriptures to make them appear to say that which they do not say. False theories will thus be propagated in the world to the very end, and as long as there are printing presses and publishing houses, erroneous matter will be presented for publication, and books will be prepared for public circulation. – {CW 153.1}

Eze 8:9 And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
Eze 8:10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.
Eze 8:11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
Eze 8:12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

What I watched of the trailer and you-tube it is obvious that there is biblical error. For one the good angel would not have been so filled with defensive anger, and violent. He would have been an honorable warrior. And where is God is all of the "trying" by the good angel...he constantly says "I tried"...this may seem a small thing but it smacks of I ish....the woman's role is not clear...who is she...where does she come from...Where is she in the great controversy...I don't like SDA typical dry commentary and desire good technology and action but this is way negative and over the top. I don't see this film as a good tool for witnessing.

When I was a teenager I would have loved this type of emotional, high-action evangelism. It requires nothing more than to sit back, turn off my frontal lobe, and allow someone to pour their views into my mind. How easy can it be?

Looking back, however, I realize that entertainment and music were the vehicles that took me out of the church. When I came back I chose to actually read and try to follow the Spirit of Prophesy. I realized that I needed to know whether EGW was a prophet or not. If she was, then the counsel she gave was directly from God- and not optional as I had grown up believing. The counsel we have been given-directly from God is not to use the theatrical to present the gospel.

The vehicle of today's theatrical entertainment is like hypnotism and not a safe or honest one to use even if it does teach only truth. We, as a church, have always seen it as important to reason with people. We have seen the power of choice as a blessed Blood-bought privilege. Theatrical entertainment is all about manipulation of our thoughts and emotions rather than a calm, rational, studied choice.

I am opposed to this from the standpoint of prophetic counsel, scientific research, and personal experience. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider our humble petition.

Dear Elder Wilson and other leaders of the General Conference of Seventh-d...

Dear Elder Wilson and other leaders of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists,

I have personally done a fair amount of research into God's view of theatrics and drama, as revealed in the Spirit of Prophecy, and I believe the proposed film series, "The Record Keeper" violates the principles God has given us along these lines.

For the last several months, my husband and I have been reading through the Testimonies for our morning and evening worship. We are currently nearly a quarter of the way through volume 3.

Recently, we have read quite a bit about the high and holy standard God had for those who worked in the publishing office in the early days of our church. Backing (in any way) a production using non-SDA actors and actresses to portray the sacred scenes of the Great Controversy is, from my humble perspective, a serious betrayal of the trust we, as Seventh-day Adventists, have placed in you by nominating you to be the leaders of our church. It is impossible for these secular individuals to to rightly represent something so foreign to their lifestyle and way of thinking.

For a number of years, Ezekiel 35:23 ("And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.") has intrigued me. To me, this verse explains the "bottom line" of "reaching the world": Having my life in complete harmony with God's character as expressed in His written word (both the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy).

No amount of Hollywood-type productions can substitute for godly lives in those who profess to be looking for the soon return of Jesus. From my observations over the past 4 decades of adult life, there seems to be an inverse relationship between holy living and "programs." "Programs" increase in direct proportion to the decrease in spirituality in the church. On the other hand, increased spirituality finds no need to resort to such measures to reach souls for Christ. The early Christians turned the world upside down -- without any of this type of thing. The early SDA pioneers likewise made a huge impact on the people of their time, also without resorting to human inventions like this.

It will be a real challenge and test of faith to buck the current at this point, but God is bigger than the enemy, and He can (and will, if you ask Him to) give you the wisdom and tact to handle this in a way that honors and glorifies Him.

Thank you (in advance) for using your influence to put a stop to this project.

Dear Eld. Wilson, I think that the SDA Church is on very dangerous ground when we go against the plainest counsels of inspiration to produce a Hollywoood-type of theatrical series such as this. For sensible minds, this kind of production can only degrade/mock the elevated truths of heaven that we as SDAs hold so dear. It certainly will be a blend of the common and sacred fire that God condemns in His Word. I would urgently plead for you to lend your influence to put a halt to it.
